Stop Calling It “Growth” When You’re Barely Surviving
Stop Calling It “Growth” When You’re Barely Surviving
The Aligned Life Operating System and the one step most people skip
Let’s just say this out loud.
Most people are out here calling their year “growth”… when in reality they were just trying not to die.
And then they sit down in January (or June, or whenever the panic hits) and decide they “failed,” because they didn’t hit the numbers, didn’t lose the weight, didn’t scale the business, didn’t feel the peace, didn’t do the Pinterest-morning-routine life.
But what if you didn’t fail?
What if you were just in a maintain season… and nobody ever gave you language for that?
That’s what this episode is about. And honestly, that’s why the Aligned Life Operating System hit me like a freight train.
Because Lindsay built a system that doesn’t just ask you what you want.
It helps you tell the truth about where you’ve been… what season you were actually in… what’s draining you… and what has to be released so you can move forward clean.
Not hype. Not fluff. Not “new year, new you.”
Real alignment.
First things first: we are not hype girls
Lindsay said it best: the beginning of the year has this energy— reflection, realignment, the reset… but the truth is, you can create that season anytime.
And that mattered to me because the last couple months? Behind the scenes? It felt a little muddled. Messy. Like we knew something needed to shift.
And here’s the part I’m proud of: Lindsay and I can have the hard conversations.
We maintain respect. Integrity. We don’t burn things down. We get aligned.
Because when you have big goals, you need critical conversations and intentional thinking, not avoidant energy and fake smiles.
That’s why this tool exists the way it does.
The biggest breakthrough: seasons tell the truth
If you would’ve asked me what season I was in last year, I would’ve said “growth” immediately.
Because that’s what high performers say, right?
“We’re always growing.”
No. That’s exhausting. And it’s not always true.
When I did the Aligned Life OS, it made me identify my last year season—and I realized something that gave me instant peace:
Last year was not growth. Last year was maintain.
And it was maintain for real reasons.
Let me paint the picture:
Chad and I got married.
I moved seven hours… and not just “boxes,” like ranch equipment, panels, and life infrastructure.
We flipped houses in the process and rolled my old home into a short-term rental (which cash flows, thank you Jesus).
We cleaned up property, restructured, and moved through the physical move AND the emotional move of blending a family.
I moved my 12-year-old into a whole new life.
My 18-year-old was graduating and heading into adulthood.
We were building businesses, starting businesses, stacking responsibilities.
And then we looked at each other like… why do we feel like we “should be further”?
Because we thought we were in growth.
But we weren’t.
We were in a season of maintaining and blending—and we did it well.
That one realization flipped the entire narrative from:
“I didn’t do enough.”
to:
“I’m proud we built stability without losing each other.”
And here’s the kicker:
We couldn’t walk into a growth season in 2026 if we hadn’t done the maintain season well first.
That’s what alignment does—it gives you the right scoreboard.
The moment that made me emotional: walking into a dream
There’s a story in the episode I want you to steal and use as a mirror for your own life.
Chad and I were coming home with pizza. Simple night. Not fancy. Not expensive. Just… pizza.
We turned the corner to head down our road and stopped the car.
And we just looked at each other.
Because we realized we were about to walk into our dream.
Our home. Our girls. Peace. Joy. The relationship we always wanted to model for our kids—because both of us came out of toxic situations and fought hard to build something healthy.
And we sat there and just basked in it.
Not because it was a Pinterest moment.
Because it was a prayer answered.
And here’s what I want you to hear:
Aligned living makes you present enough to notice when you’re walking into a memory before it even happens.
You stop rushing through the chapter you begged God for.
The step most people skip: release
This is where Lindsay gets savage (in the best way).
Most people do reflection, then jump straight into planning.
New goals. New hustle. New targets.
But there’s a missing step—release.
If you skip it, you’ll keep achieving… but you’ll keep hitting the same level.
Because you never dealt with the friction.
You never released the resentment.
You never cleaned up the junk that’s stealing your energy in real time.
Lindsay used this analogy that is so simple it’s almost rude:
She wears a Garmin watch that tracks “body battery.” Stress drains it. Sleep refills it.
And she realized she was draining her battery to empty every day and thought that was normal.
But the point was bigger than a watch.
What are you carrying that’s stealing your energy, your joy, your attention… and you don’t even realize it?
That’s what the release step exposes.
And I’ll tell you: Chad and I have gotten good at this, because if you let resentment sit, it will rob your marriage, your friendships, your leadership, your whole life.
We don’t do monumental blow-ups.
We do small disagreements, fast repair, and then we go back to joy.
That is a skill. And it’s a spiritual discipline, whether people want to call it that or not.
Alignment with a partner matters more than people admit
This is one of the coolest parts of the Aligned Life OS: it’s not just about you.
It has an individual portion, and then it has a partner realignment component.
Because being “10% off” doesn’t sound like a big deal—until you’re 10% off every day and suddenly you’re walking in opposite directions.
That’s true in marriage. It’s true in business partnerships. It’s true in leadership.
And for Lindsay and I, we’re partners. We move fast. We’re both engines. So alignment isn’t optional—it’s required.
Pruning is not failure. It’s leadership.
Another mic-drop in this episode: Lindsay is in a prune season.
Not because she’s quitting. Not because she’s lazy.
Because she’s protecting white space and leading from where she’s at—without taking on more responsibility.
And honestly? That might be the most mature thing you can do when you have a lot of opportunities.
Because here’s the truth nobody tells you:
When you do life well, everything becomes a “good opportunity.”
And if you keep saying yes to every good thing, you eventually lose your peace.
So here’s the filter I use (and it’s saved me more times than I can count):
Can I commit to this physically, financially, emotionally, and spiritually?
If it robs my spiritual life, it’s a no.
If my body can’t hold it, it’s a no.
If it doesn’t make financial sense, it’s a no.
If it steals emotional bandwidth from my priorities, it’s a no.
That’s alignment.
This isn’t a “new year” thing. It’s an anytime realignment.
We said it in the episode and I’ll say it again:
This tool can be done in June. In October. In the middle of a messy season.
Because the “new year energy” has nothing to do with the calendar.
It has to do with meaning, belief, intention, and realignment.
And that’s why we call it an operating system. Not a worksheet. Not a cute framework.
A system.
Want the next step?
If you’re reading this and you already know you need a reset—download the Aligned Life Operating System and actually use it.
Don’t do the thing where you print it and put it in a drawer and call it “self-care.”
Do the work.
Because this doesn’t just help you set goals.
It helps you build security… and security creates potentiality.
And when you live in potentiality, it’s uncanny what becomes possible.
If you want the PDF + the walkthrough masterclass, it’ll be linked where you found this episode.
And when you do it—tell us what you notice. What’s hard. What’s confusing. What hits you in the face.
Because we built this for real humans. Not robots.
And we’ll iterate it as we go.
