Obedience Before Outcome
Obedience Before Outcome
Hey guys, welcome back to Simplified Success The Podcast. I’m Krystal Blackard, here with my co-host, Lindsay Reynolds.
And today is one of those conversations that stays with you.
You guys know my background — I came from social selling and network marketing, but I did not truly understand strategy until I met Jenna Larson. She has been a mentor, a guide, and a coach to me for years. She’s taught me how to think in systems, how to simplify complexity, and how to build things that actually work.
But this conversation wasn’t really about strategy.
It was about obedience.
When Everything Gets Pressure-Tested
Jenna described this last year as a “throw it to the fire and test it” season.
Not the highlight-reel version of business. The real one.
Her team was forced to relaunch an entire software platform. Everything that could go wrong, did. People use their tools to make real money — so when things weren’t working, the pressure was immense.
There were moments where the question was honest and raw:
Should we just quit?
Because the business had already exceeded anything they could’ve dreamed. And it felt like maybe… this was the end.
But something shifted — not because circumstances got easier, but because a decision was made.
They chose conviction over fear.
They stopped shrinking back and went all-in again. And when they did, momentum followed. Not because they chased it — but because they realigned with what they believed they were called to do.
Redefining Success
One of the most powerful moments in this conversation was Jenna’s definition of success.
She said that when she and her husband talk about success, it comes down to one thing:
Are we following what God wants us to do?
Even if that means making zero dollars.
Even if it doesn’t make sense.
Even if it feels risky.
That kind of definition creates a level of resilience you can’t fake.
And it matters — because Jenna is not naturally fearless. She openly talks about being high-anxiety, a control-lover, a safety-patrol type of person. Her obedience wasn’t passive. It was practiced.
The First Step Comes Before the Evidence
Lindsay asked a question a lot of people think but don’t say out loud:
What does it actually look like when people say “God told me”?
How do you know?
Jenna’s answer was simple and grounded.
She doesn’t always know with full certainty.
So she takes the first step.
She gets her feet wet.
And she trusts God to course-correct if needed.
She shared a story about choosing a school for her son — a massive financial and logistical commitment. Her son was adamant he wouldn’t go. There was no human confirmation yet.
But once the decision was made — once she moved — confirmation followed.
That pattern shows up everywhere.
Clarity doesn’t usually come before obedience.
It comes after.
Action Creates Momentum
Jenna said something that explains so much of her success:
When she has an idea, she takes action immediately.
Not perfectly.
Not with everything figured out.
Just movement.
She sees this over and over with entrepreneurs — people get stuck thinking instead of moving. Talking instead of offering. Planning instead of testing.
She even shared a story about a private client who kept wanting to refine her offer. Jenna finally told her to stop talking and go make offers.
She did — and landed two high-ticket clients.
Most people don’t need more time.
They need more action.
Launch Small. Let It Grow.
GroupTrack didn’t start as a massive platform.
It started as a small solution to a real problem: managing conversations where people already were — on social media.
They launched with a tiny idea.
Then listened.
Then built.
Then refined.
That’s how real businesses are built — not by waiting until it’s perfect, but by moving, learning, and adjusting.
Get Your Feet Wet
Jenna’s parting words were simple:
Take one step.
You can always pivot.
You can always adjust.
You can always go back.
But it’s also entirely possible that the sea parts — simply because you were willing to move.
If you’re waiting for certainty before you take action, this is your reminder:
Obedience comes before outcome.
And sometimes, the only way forward is to get your feet wet.
